Scouts of the World Award

Date: 26th Feb 2019 Author: David Bull

Congratulations to Joanna Wood, a leader at the 42nd Chester who has gained her Scouts of the World Award. She is the first in Cheshire to gain this award and one of a few in the United Kingdom. In the UK, the award is open to Network members but is also undertaken by Scouts from all over the world.

Joanna gained hers by working at a panda conservation area in China and promoting conservation of pandas through her Panda in a Box and Panda in a Pack which is a ready-made programme about panda conservation for Beavers/Cubs and Scouts.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
