Risk Assessments

The key to the delivery of exciting and enjoyable programmes is that they are safe.  Everyone has a part to play in assessing and managing risk and all adults have a role in keeping Scouts a safe place for our members.  As part of any planning process, the risks of an activity should be identified, recorded, and appropriate controls put in place.

Leaders must carry out and record risk assessments before and during every activity.  Risk assessments for activities and/or events which take place outside the usual meeting place and/or time are to be reviewed by line managers and then submitted to the District Lead Volunteer for final approval.

Embedding risk assessment within the planning process allows us to deliver safe, enjoyable, and exciting programmes for young people!
