Olympuss

On an unusually sunny day for this summer 126 young people and 37 adult leaders from Chester Scouts (Vicars Cross, Westminster Park, Hoole, Blacon, Christleton, Malpas and Saltney) took part in Olympuss, an Olympic-themed event with a programme based on five zones, one for each ring of the Olympic Symbol. All Districts from Cheshire took part in this major event at Cheshire Scouts’ Forest Camp at Sandiway. The activity took place over two days so that the huge demand could be met.

Joanne Turner, our District Commissioner, said “It was great that so many of our younger members were able to take part in this great day, which helped us all to get into the Olympic spirit – we have just launched an Olympic badge which recognises involvement by our members in Olympic-themed  activities. Olympuss was a great start to that.”

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
