Gang Show 2025

Date: 5th Mar 2025 Author: David Bull

The 68th production of Chester Gang Show returned in the third week of February with a spectacular display of music, song and dance over six performances. Over a hundred and fifty local Scouts, leaders and volunteers came together at the Vanbrugh Theatre at the King’s School in Chester, and performed to appreciative audiences totalling one thousand five hundred people.

Preparations for the show had been tinged with deep sadness. Evan Rothwell tragically lost his life in a road accident on his way from school, a few months into rehearsals. Evan and his family and friends were very much in everyone’s thoughts during the rehearsals leading up to the Show and during the performances.

Scout entertainments such as our Gang Show are assessed from time to time by a friendly expert. This was done this year at our show by an assessor from Leicestershire Scouts and the result in nearly all areas that were assessed was that Chester Gang Show exceeded minimum standards, with outstanding performance. The assessor’s comments throughout their report were extremely complimentary and confirmed – as we knew all along –  that Chester Gang Show is one of the best. Well done to all who worked so hard to deliver our Show!
