Cheshire Hike is back!

Date: 5th Apr 2022 Author: David Bull

Cheshire Hike is an annual event run by Cheshire Scouts, for Scouts and Guides between the ages of 10½ and 17. The event has been refreshed and was relaunched this year, with record participation. The first Cheshire Hike was in 1964 and this year’s was the fifty-fourth.

Across two days, three age sections, as part of Cheshire Hike hundreds of Scouts and Guides walk between 30km and 60km from start and finish locations that are revealed just two weeks before the event.

Well done to the thirteen Chester and District Teams of Scouts and Explorers who took part in this year’s Hike! A huge thank you to the leaders and volunteers from Chester who gave up their time to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

With the new style hike came new trophies – which were awarded for the first time to Chester and District winners:

  • Pathfinders Team 129 – 42nd Chester
  • Pathfinder + Team 333 – 42nd Chester
  • Explorer Team 516 – 42nd Chester

We hope to see more teams and Groups represented in the 2023 Cheshire Hike, which will take place  from 1 April to 2 April 2023.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
