Beeston Hike

Date: 1st Jun 2012 Author: Scout Websites

100 Beaver Scouts, with some Cubs, from 1st Sandstone, 1st Tarporley, Cestrian, 42nd Chester and 5th Blacon took part in the annual Beeston Hike.

Bear Grylls, our Chief Scout, sent a personal letter of encouragement: “I’ve heard about your programme for the Beeston Hike and it sounds like an awesome event!  Remember to ‘do your best and help other people’. Have fun!”

Together they raised nearly £2000 for Operation Smile, a charity which provides free surgery to repair cleft lips, cleft palates and other disfiguring and life threatening facial deformities in children around the globe.  The money raised will be enough to change the lives of 13 children for ever.

Well done all and many thanks to the 1st Sandstone for organising the event!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
