European Jamboree 2020

After a gap of nearly 15 years, since the UK hosted the last European Jamboree in 2005, the upcoming European Scout Jamboree will take place in Poland in July/August 2020. Building on the fantastic programme developed as part of their World Scout Jamboree bids, the Scouts and Guides of Poland and the World Organisation of the Scout Movement invite you to join them for 11 days of activities, developing new skills, making new friends from across Europe and experiencing Poland’s beautiful countryside. Based on its very own island close to the city of Gdansk, the purpose built site is within walking distance of beautiful sandy beaches, pine forests and a just short bus ride from the bustling city.

We are extremely lucky to be one of a few Districts in Cheshire to have been successful in securing a bid for a full unit of 36 members. It’s great that so many Scouts and Explorers from Chester will have the opportunity to experience an international Scouting event of this scale and sincerely hope any of you who were unsuccessful with your application for the World Scout Jamboree will apply for this equally fantastic event! The great thing about this opportunity is that we have a huge amount of flexibility with the pre and post travel and you will be given the chance to help shape a bespoke experience either side of the Jamboree and make it a unique trip for Chester.

It should be stressed that cost should not be seen as a barrier to attend. Our intention is that the experience will be made accessible to young people from all financial backgrounds through group fundraising and participant payments.

Dates

The core Jamboree will take place from 26 July to 6 August 2020. This does not include pre/post travel and tours.
